As I travel internationally, I get to meet some very remarkable real estate investment-centric minds from all walks of life, whose focus remain on either short-term or long-term high return-on-investment (ROI). However, another commonality that they share is the counter intuitiveness of their investment approaches either in real estate investments or digital real estate investments all while balancing risks and benefits quite intuitively. The latter may seem oxymoronic for the novice investor. However, it is the very reason why such rare and wise investors are at the top 1% of the human population when it comes to investment success. One can safely assert that the #1 Rule in investing wisely is DIVERSIFICATION and tapping into UNSATURATED MARKETS with a high probability for the best ROI.
On that note, while real estate investments have been proven to be more lucrative outside of the U.S. due to overhead related factors (e.g., general costs, taxes and other regulations) and competition, many have mistakenly (or due to old-day stereotypes) closed their eyes on places like Africa and the Caribbean and have focused on saturated places like Costa-Rica, Aruba, Europe and even Asia where the competition is so fierce that the ROI is often nearly insignificant.
Many have even "lost their shirts" on such investments. While there are still some minor known opportunities in places in the U.S. itself such as Southwest Florida (e.g., Naples, Fort Myers) and the Midwest, many are still concerned about threats posed by unpredictable hurricanes and the political climates of America especially as of late.
